Lake George

Lake George, NY.

What a special summer we had in Lake George, NY. While the best part was being close enough to visit family in nearby Maine, we really did like the area.

Two Lights State Park – Maine

We stayed at beautiful Ledgeview RV Park. It is by far our favorite yet. It offers mountain views, large sites and beautiful facilities. The park is peaceful and very well maintained. Staff is superb; always kind and helpful. In talking with one of the workers, we learned it is family owned and has been passed down 3 generations. It is apparent they care about the park and seem to genuinely enjoy their work and interacting with campers.

Ellie really enjoyed the playground and riding her bike on the rolling hills throughout the park. It was a welcome break to be in a park that does not allow golf carts…people seem to drive those faster than cars everywhere else we’ve stayed. Ledgeview offers recumbent 3 wheel “fun bikes” as well as a number of lawn game activities that can be checked out at the office to enjoy. There is also a pool and a rec hall full of free games to play. While the rates may be more expensive than other RV parks in the greater Albany area, we felt it was absolutely worth it.

Lake George has a very cute downtown, though due to COVID we didn’t explore much beyond Ben & Jerry’s and Shepard Park. Ellie and I loved the many different playgrounds in the Lake George/Queensbury area. Following are other destinations we enjoyed:

Prospect Mountain

Lake George Expedition Park

June Farms

Stu-Berry Acres

Fort Ticonderoga

We found limited options for local plant-based restaurants in the Lake George area; so we stuck to our homemade meals.

Thanks for a special and memorable summer Lake George, and most especially to our family who always made time for our visits.
