A lot has changed in 6 months…
We had that special, simple wedding we last wrote about and it was an absolutely incredible day. We simplified it even further, by trading in the vintage white Deland chauffeur idea for our own legs. We spent a long weekend at the beautiful and historic Vinoy hotel in St. Petersburg, FL and exchanged wedding vows on May 18th in nearby North Straub Park, less than 24 hours after George proposed.

We couldn’t have had a more beautiful day or picked a better officiant or photographer. The simplicity helped keep the meaning – our love for and commitment to each other – at the forefront. I spent more time writing my vows to George than picking out my dress and getting ready, combined, and that feels really good. As has been said by The Minimalists in their own words, our priorities are revealed by how we chose to spend our most precious resource – time.
Why the long absence in writing? Well, the morning we set off to Asheville on March 16th, we found out the welcomed and exciting news that we are expecting! Quickly thereafter the pregnancy symptoms started to kick in and required much paring down of my schedule. Some days, work was the only thing I was able get through. The couch that was rarely lounged on became my new afternoon hangout and running turned into walking. Eating even became difficult, giving me heightened insight into the challenges my patients face. Thankfully, I started feeling much better around week 17.
As we get ready to welcome our little one (expected on Black Friday of all days!) we are also preparing to adjust to a single income for a while and to make our way north to be closer to family. We are grateful for our shared minimalist values, as they make these major changes seem more attainable.
